Candy, poison and a mysterious past

Love Thy Sister by Maria Swan

This story combines some of my favorite things, mystery, romance, and David Bowie. After the tragic death of Mina’s parents, she has come to live with her sister Paola and her brother-in-law Michael in the United States. Mina has always admired her older, poised and successful sister. Paola owns her home and runs a software company with her current husband. When her business and her marriage starts to go, sideways Paola hires a private eye to keep tabs on her husband. This backfires and sets off a chain of events that leaves more than one person dead in its wake.

I really liked this book and read it in one sitting. It’s full of adventure, strong women and mysterious connections. The characters had clear and individual voices. It was a fast read that ended almost too soon, but the ending made me smile and say out loud, “How clever.”

I would recommend this book to those who love candy, mystery and scary surprises.
